Tooth decay treatment

CARIES

Tooth decay is a bacterial disease. The tooth substance is destroyed by chemical decalcification and dissolution processes. It usually begins harmlessly on the surface, spreads through the dentin into the nerve and thus destroys the entire tooth. Regular examinations do not have to come to that. Decalcification processes caused by caries can be recognized by yellowish to brownish enamel stains on the tooth surface or by existing tooth defects such as dark holes or toothache.

PROPHYLAXIS

Regular and thorough dental care is essential. In addition to professional teeth cleaning ,  this includes  brushing your teeth  after meals, cleaning the interdental spaces with  dental floss  and an adequate supply of fluorides. Sugar and acids are not friends of healthy teeth. These should come into contact with your teeth as rarely and as briefly as possible. This quickly leads to early tooth decay, especially in babies and toddlers. Successful prophylaxis is rounded off by regular check-ups.

TREATMENT

The caries focus is first removed with the drill and the clean hole is then filled with a suitable filling. Depending on the stability, function and aesthetics of the tooth to be restored, different  filling materials  and restorations are used. In a comprehensive consultation, we would be happy to explain the individual materials and choose the optimal variant for you with you.
