Afraid of going to the dentist

A FOR FEAR

65 percent of Germans don't like going to the dentist. In some patients, the fear is so great that visits to the practice are completely avoided. This can result in serious dentition damage. Whether you just feel uncomfortable or suffer from an anxiety disorder: tell us about your fears! Every anxiety patient has their own personal reasons that trigger their anxiety. We would be happy to help you identify the reasons for your fear, help you deal with it and find treatments that offer you the greatest possible well-being.

WHY DO PATIENTS FEAR

The most common reasons are:

  • the feeling of helplessness from lying on your back and being at the mercy of another person

  • Past experiences that had a negative impact on the dentist's experience

  • Shame about dental hygiene

  • Symptoms that may be associated with unpleasant dental treatment, for example sweating, tremors, palpitations

Fear of going to the dentist is not innate, it is shaped by negative experiences. A child's first visit to the dentist, in particular, should be a good, unencumbered event. You should therefore take the time to answer all your child's questions about a visit to the dentist and encourage them to ask them to the dentist too.
